Restord Delivers Verified Biochar Carbon Removal to Tide and Glad Climate

Restord has delivered verified biochar carbon removal credit to two organisations: Tide, the UK's leading business finance platform for SMEs, and Glad Climate, a startup enabling individuals to fund permanent carbon removal.

Both have received Biochar Carbon Removal Certificates for 1 tonne of CO2e each, with verification provided by CapChar under its Biochar Carbon Code. The credits are now recorded on CapChar's public registry available at capchar.com/registry.

Two buyers, one message.

What makes these deliveries notable is not just the tonnes. It is who is buying.

Tide serves over 1.5 million small businesses worldwide, including more than 10% of all UK SMEs. As a fintech company built around helping businesses save time and money, their decision to purchase verified carbon removal signals that climate action is becoming part of how forward-thinking companies operate.

Glad Climate takes a different approach, enabling individuals to fund carbon removal through its Climate Prize Draw. Members pool contributions each season, which Glad directs toward verified suppliers. Their criteria: permanent, additional, and fast. Their goal: 1 billion tonnes removed.

A fintech platform and a consumer climate startup. Different models, same destination: verified, UK-based carbon removal that is measured, authenticated, and publicly recorded.

Why this matters

These are not our first verified deliveries. In June 2025, Restord delivered its first biochar carbon removal credits to architectural firm, Bennetts Associates.

The UK biochar sector is growing, with demand emerging from corporate buyers, SME platforms, and individual consumers.

Globally, biochar delivers 86% of all durable carbon removal credits and accounts for 92% of retirements. The technology works. The question is whether the UK will scale it, and transactions like these are pointers to the answer.
