Restord and Glad Partner on Biochar Carbon Removal Delivery

Restord has entered into a new carbon removal agreement with Glad, a UK-based climate action platform, for the delivery and retirement of one tonne of biochar-based carbon removals. The delivery is scheduled to be completed by the end of Q3 2025.

The deal represents a strategic collaboration between two emerging climate ventures focused on scaling durable, verifiable carbon removal within the UK. The credits will be delivered under a pre-purchase agreement.

New Faces, Shared Purpose

This agreement comes at a time of growth for both organisations. “We’ve been working with some exciting companies to grow demand for both our physical biochar and our carbon credits,” said Tom Previte, Co-founder at Restord.

Glad was founded by Ben Wynn and James McQuarrie who are applying their wealth of  experience scaling product, marketing, and technology businesses. The purchase is part of deploying Glad’s Season 1 Climate Pot - a fund created from Glad’s flagship product, the Climate Saver Card. For just £5/month, members get access to savings on everyday essentials from purpose-led brands, while their fee goes directly into carbon removal.

“We’ve followed Restord’s development closely via the Grounded podcast, and we’re glad to support their growth with this first purchase,” said Ben Wynn, Co-Founder and CEO of Glad. “They’re earlier-stage than most of the solutions we’re backing, but we believe it’s vital to accelerate a diverse mix of removal methods. We see huge potential in what Restord is building”.

Grounded in Delivery

Under the agreement, Restord will deliver one tonne of carbon removal credits priced at £200 per tonne. Production will occur across multiple biochar runs using Restord’s on-farm pyrolysis facility, with delivery and retirement to be completed by September 30, 2025.

Restord’s credits are certified under the Biochar Carbon Code, a UK-specific standard developed by CapChar, which ensures traceability, permanence, and soil-based co-benefits.

Key Details of the Agreement:

  • Type: Biochar

  • Total Purchase Amount: £200

  • Service Quantity: 1 metric tonnes

  • Price: £200 per metric tonne of CO2

  • Delivery Schedule: 30th September 2025
