Restord Delivers First Verified Carbon Removals, a Milestone for UK Biochar
We are proud to announce the successful delivery and retirement of 8.6 tonnes of carbon dioxide removals, part of a larger 50-tonne prepurchase agreement with sustainability-driven UK architecture firm Bennetts Associates, facilitated under CapChar’s Biochar Carbon Code.
This marks a meaningful step, not just for Restord, but for the future of carbon removal in the UK. These credits, among the first issued under the Biochar Carbon Code, are tied directly to our pyrolysis operations on a farm in Cornwall, where we convert agricultural waste into biochar, a stable form of carbon stored in the soil.
At £200 per tonne, the pricing reflects what we and others in this space believe to be the true value of high-quality, traceable, and permanent carbon removals, delivered locally and transparently.
Restord founder, Tom Previte, said it best:
“Registering and retiring our first tranche of Biochar Carbon Units on the CapChar registry for Bennetts Associates is a big moment for UK carbon removal. Our collaboration with CapChar combined with Bennetts Associates’ climate leadership sends a powerful market signal: durable, UK-made carbon removal is real and ready to scale. We’re honoured that Restord’s very first credits are helping an iconic architecture firm reach its net zero targets.”
We share this achievement with our partners:
CapChar, whose on-farm pyrolysis systems and rigorous Biochar Carbon Code are setting a new standard for integrity and transparency.
Bennetts Associates, whose commitment to locally sourced and high-impact climate solutions made this pioneering deal possible.
As this market continues to mature, we believe UK-grown, on-farm biochar will play a central role in supporting the net-zero transition, both by removing carbon and regenerating soils.
Restord’s mission has always been about turning waste into worth. With this delivery, we’re showing that waste can also be part of a high-integrity carbon market, grounded in real places, real partnerships, and real impact.
